Morrocco, August

Hi everybody ! Here is how our internship in AICHA went.
We travelled in bus from Nantes to Morocco. We choosed this way of travelling for environnemental reasons and to take the time to enjoy the trip.

We had a few adventures like in Bordeaux where we went to the pub, in Algesiras and Agadir where we slept under the stared sky or when we took the ferry. We could spent two days in Marrakesh and visit a souk before going to Guelmim. That was pretty cool !  Also it took us four days to arrive in Oumifiss.

There we worked in a nursery which has over five thousand plants.

We had to water the crops because it didn’t rain for ten years so up there all is very dry. In parallele we prepared the venue of a thirty-volunteered group. We gathered about one thousand and two hundred caroub and casualina trees and we help the group to plant it in the desert. It was a bit hard because of the sun and the heat but Lois found some tomatoes seed thaat was growing up there for Axiome, the istomian association. It was a fair deal.
Then we were invited to a fantasia and to a dinner reception organized by an important man of the village. It’s a kind of traditional party inspired by the military exercises with horses. That was awesome. Anatole had the luck to be interviewed by a national television.

The following week two new volunteers arrived. We weed out the garden and plant eggplants with a local farmer. We collected caroubs seeds and pod them after what we could sow them. While we were collecting seeds, Paul found a chameleon.

Last but not least we groomed the pomegrenate trees. It was important to enhance the production. In the verger and the pepiniere there was a looots of insects and much more different than those we see in France.

In the end we return to Angers by bus and train until Barcelona and then in auto stop for two days. The whole return trip time was about five days.
